  1. The largest NRHP for architecture in California is Old Towne Orange. Just over a square mile, the district contains 1,500 historic buildings, all built between 1874 and 1940, of which 85% are listed on the register. It is the third largest register in the nation behind Charleston, SC, and Lancaster, PA.
